Nick joined the South Downs Trust board in November 2025. Nick was born in Brighton and currently lives in Eastbourne with his wife and two children. Nick is hugely passionate about the outdoors and the benefits that it brings to all having spent the last 25 years working in sport and sport leadership roles.
Most recently Nick was Chief Executive of England Hockey and Chief Executive of England Golf before then. Nick has led large scale change projects in governance, membership and commercial in sport which included transformative governance changes to the domestic structures in hockey and national governance changes within England Golf. Nick oversaw the introduction of Channel 4 as a broadcast partner to provide free-to-air hockey coverage and worked closely with a number of commercial partners and government departments and agencies investing into hockey and golf. Nick has overseen the integration of digital and data projects including the introduction of the golf handicap system that is used by all golf clubs and more than 700,000 people across England.
Nick is currently the Chair of Safe Sport which is aiming to improve the national leadership and management of safe sport in the UK and Chief Operating Officer at the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) leading the corporate services area of the organisation, as well as the Membership and Commercial areas where FDF aim to deliver great events and services for their members, whilst growing the base of membership and commercial revenue to support FDF’s strategy.
